Be part of the Art of Reading Book Club, where art, literature, and art history converge.
Join fellow SDMA members and book lovers as we enjoy discussing The Upside-Down World: Meetings with the Dutch Masters by Benjamin Moser. At twenty-five, author Benjamin Moser arrived in a Dutch town and became captivated by the country’s great museums, finding in the lives and works of artists like Rembrandt and Vermeer a mirror to his own questions about art, success, and failure. The Upside-Down World is both a rich exploration of Holland’s Golden Age and an intimate self-portrait, twenty years in the making.
Coffee and light snacks will be served. The book club will be followed by a docent-led tour of art works relating to the book, including highlights of the newly opened Dutch Painting: Special Loans from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Please save your spot by Wednesday, May 14. Prior to entry all participants are required to check in at the SDMA rotunda admissions desk, after which you will meet in the Museum boardroom.
