Embark on a unique journey where art and human experiences intertwine at The San Diego Museum of Art. Experience an innovative event with the Human Library Organization that challenges stereotypes and fosters understanding through personal connections.

Step into a world where people become open books, ready to share their extraordinary stories with you. Unlike a traditional library, here you’ll “borrow” real individuals for enlightening conversations amidst the inspiring backdrop of our Art of the Americas installation on view in Galleries 1–3 of the Museum.

• “Human Books” are diverse volunteers representing groups that often face prejudice or discrimination. They offer their personal narratives on crucial topics such as migration, segregation, oppression, social justice, climate, and conservation.
• As a “reader” you’ll have the opportunity to dialogue with these Human Books for 20–30 minutes in a meaningful exchange to challenge preconceptions and broaden perspectives.

Join us for this transformative experience where the stories on our walls come to life through the voices of our community. Expand your horizons, cultivate empathy, and discover the living narratives that shape our world.

Please reserve your spot. Advance registration required. Event is free with Museum admission, but space is limited.

Please note: Event takes place during Resident Free Tuesday, which grants free admission to San Diego County Residents (with ID). Museum admission for nonresidents not included.
